Job Summary: The Nurse Practitioner-Xpand Role, practices in a Magnet recognized tertiary academic medical center with Level One Trauma Designation, Comprehensive Stroke Center Certification and ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Receiving Center designation. Practices in collaboration with the supervising physician and performs overlapping medical/surgical procedures for specialty population of patients with critical acuity and/or participates in service coverage needs 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Provides age-specific and developmentally appropriate medical management and coordination of patient care consistent with their educational preparation and according to designated standardized procedures. Performs complete physical examinations, including ordering, interpreting and evaluating diagnostic tests and examinations. Documents subjective and objective data and care in the electronic medical record according to established policies and procedures. Keeps patient, family, and/or caregiver informed regarding plan of care, e.g., hospital course, post-operative plan of care, expected outcomes, follow-up care.
