Job description

Job Summary: The Phlebotomy Technician 1, Certified (CPT1) performs blood collection by phlebotomy and capillary puncture in a safe, accurate and professional manner. Receives customers (e.g., patients, clinicians, visitors). Interacts with all patients and visitors in a professional, pleasant, efficient, and cooperative manner. Monitors patients for unexpected reactions and responds to emergent situations, as required. Performs collections on all age groups and degree of difficulty, both inpatient and outpatient. Works with Laboratory staff to provide safe, efficient, and timely collections. Provides other collection services including sweat chlorides, chain-of-custody, ambulatory blood pressures, and provides instructions for patient specimen collection. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: High School Diploma or GED required. Experience in high complexity medical lab performing specimen collection, pediatric collection, and computer data entry preferred. Knowledge and Skills: Possesses excellent dexterity and analytic skills.
