Athletic Academic Advisement Assistant Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume): Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience in an academic advising, counseling, or student services setting. Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Counseling, Higher Education Administration, Education, or related field. Additional years (3+) of full-time experience in an academic advising, counseling, or student services setting. Understanding of NCAA Compliance Rules (played a Division I, II, or III sport, coached in collegiate athletics, or as a staff member in a collegiate athletic program). Previous experience with a Division I Athletic Program. Experience in higher education. Experience working with at-risk students. Brief Description of Duties: The Athletic Academic Advisement Assistant will be responsible for providing academic support and student services to Stony Brook student-athletes. They will assist in the evaluation, monitoring, and development of the academic advising, tutoring, and academic progress and Life Skills programs in place for all student-athletes.
