Job description

Job Description Operates Computed Tomography (CT) equipment. Prepares patients for examination, obtains required images for physician to make a diagnosis. Assists in management of patient flow and presents images mounted for physician's diagnosis. Job Responsibility: 1.Explains procedure in easy-to-understand terms based on professional knowledge to relieve patient of pre-testing anxiety. 2.Verifies that there are no contraindications to administration of the IV contrast agent. Ensures required consent forms have been completed/obtained. 3.Prepares patient for exam by placing patient on exam table and positioning within gantry. 4.Sets up equipment to administer proper procedure in a timely fashion. 5.Keys in patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from a requisition completed by the Radiologist to include anatomical area of interest, slice thickness and couch increment. 6.Calculates the number of scans to be obtained based on patient size, and operates CT ensuring that required images are obtained as ordered by the Radiologist. 7.Administers intravenous (IV) and oral contrast agents as per Radiologist order.
