Job description

Location: All Souls Cemetery - Long Beach Status: Non - Exempt, Full Time POSITION SUMMARY: Mechanic performs mechanical maintenance and repairs; and/or performs welder and irrigation functions. Makes working adjustments and minor maintenance and repairs and may operate heavier equipment and a variety of other cemetery tasks as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Because all Archdiocesan employees represent the Roman Catholic Church, they are expected to conduct themselves according to the goals and mission of the Church in performing their work. - Renders preventative maintenance to cemetery vehicles and machinery on scheduled basis; repairs vehicles and equipment as necessary. - Maintains tools and mechanical equipment in good order and ensures their security. - May install and maintain irrigation system(s) according to specifications. - Repairs main water lines, sprinkler system clocks, fencing and does other heavy repairs. - Safely operate heavy equipment, the backhoe, mower, sweeper, trimmer, dump truck or other cemetery equipment, as needed. - Removes flowers; cares for vases, as needed. - Gathers and removes trash; maintains working shop in a clean, orderly and safe manner. - Assi...
