Legal Appeals Specialist

Job description

The Appeals Specialist role is responsible for reviewing and submitting appeal responses in various ebilling platforms in an effort to recover reduced invoice amounts. The position is responsible for various insurance carriers and will review their reductions, create and submit appeal emails to the attorneys, and submit the completed appeals before their deadlines. They may also assist the appeals team lead with various reports and other projects. Responsibilities: - Manage the appeal process for reduced invoices for insurance carriers. - Generate reports using Word, Adobe, & Excel for legal staff to utilize in crafting comments to appeal. - Manage appeal deadlines and follow up with legal staff to ensure deadlines are met. - Utilize various eBilling platforms to submit appeals. - Communicate with timekeepers, billing specialists, and payables team to resolve issues related to reductions. - Knowledge of the eBilling/billing process for insurance clients. - General understanding of insured matter billing and major carrier guidelines. - Ability to problem solve and use resources to resolve complex invoice reductions and assist in preventing similar reductions in the future.
