Description The Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy at the University of Michigan invites applications from well-qualified individuals to develop and teach masters-level short courses on negotiation and conflict resolution skills for public policy professionals. The courses, which are part of a newly revised core curriculum, will be offered to Master of Public Policy and Master of Public Affairs students both fall and winter semesters. In addition, this position involves some service/committee assignments related the academic mission of the Ford School. The teaching load (6-7 credits) and service work will amount to a .50 FTE appointment during the academic year. The successful applicant will develop and teach courses related to negotiations and conflict resolution, including a 1 credit, 7-week course called “Negotiation Basics for Public Policy” with 14 hours of content on the basics of strategic negotiation with application in public policy settings. This course will include some online/asynchronous content, along with synchronous sessions (in-person and/or online) in which students can discuss and practice negotiation strategies and skills.
