Job description

Oversee and perform a variety of simple to complex roadway maintenance activities. Supervise a crew and provide technical guidance to crew members performing maintenance activities and equipment operation. Serve as a member and leader of a work crew performing a combination of skilled equipment operation, preventive maintenance and manual labor tasks in order to maintain Virginia's roadways. How you will contribute: - Communication: Effectively communicate with citizens, public officials, state employees and business people demonstrating sensitivity for their opinions and suggestions. Respond with accurate and complete information to inquiries and requests. Communicate effectively, courteously, and professionally with customers. Provide customers with Information related to the status of their work requests as required. May require travel and work outside of the traditional district boundaries which may cause a temporary change to the work schedule. - Emergency Operations: Prepare and operate equipment for snow and ice removal or other types of emergency operations.
