Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Acute General Medicine/Telemetry Department: Acute General Medicine/Telemetry (5400/5500): Location: Rochester General Hospital: Hours Per Week: Full-Time (36 hours per week) Schedule: Nights, Every Other Weekend, Every Other Holiday SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team. The Acute Medical Unit (5400/5500) specializes in the care of patients with complex medical conditions and multi-system health issues. Nurses on this unit have the opportunity to build and strengthen their clinical expertise by managing a wide range of acute illnesses, including cardiac conditions requiring telemetry, diabetes, kidney disease and dialysis, pulmonary disorders, and patients requiring multiple drips, drains, and catheters.
