Work Schedule: 100% FTE, days/evenings. Hours are from 2:30 pm to 11:00 pm Monday through Friday. No weekends. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department. You will work at University Hospital in Madison, WI. We are seeking a Pathology Grossing Technician to: - Receive specimens and carefully check paperwork for accuracy and completeness, including appropriate documentation of medical necessity. - Perform routine, uncomplicated surgical dissection procedures on tissue samples. These specimens include core biopsies, small biopsies, bone marrows, curettings, gallbladder, appendix, fallopian tubes, placenta, etc. - Obtain biological specimens for specialized analysis (flow cytometry, image analysis, immunohistochemistry, etc.) and upon direction of the pathologist perform special procedures. - Prepare gross tissue sections for frozen section and electron and immunofluorescent microscopy.
