GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Under general supervision, to perform a variety of routine mechanical tasks involved in the basic maintenance of mobile and stationary equipment, including tires and fluid service for various types of vehicles and equipment. This position may be responsible for maintaining inventory of items including tires, filters, oil, and the delivery of all types of fuel. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: This position exercises no supervision. IMPORTANT AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform routine, light maintenance such as repair and replacement of tires and wheels; lube/oil/ filter services for City-operated mobile equipment and their components, which may include automobiles, tractors, small and large diesel trucks, earthmoving equipment, or pavement construction equipment; inspecting and servicing a variety of small gasoline engines and pumps. Maintain lubrication records on all equipment. Order replacement parts and materials as needed; issue equipment or perform fuel and oil checkout; maintain accurate inventory records.
