Job description
The PET/CT Technologist prepares and administers high energy short acting radio-isotopes, and sometimes contrast media, supplied by manufacturers, to patients in preparation for diagnostic procedures. The technologist prepares and positions patients for scanning and operates the PET scanner, CT scanner, Dose calibrators, radiation detectors, and radiopharmaceutical tracking software. The technologist is responsible for performing radiation safety and quality control procedures, disposal of radioactive materials, and monitoring work area and patient rooms to ensure that the levels of radioactive materials are in accordance with NRC regulations. May be required to work in other modalities with appropriate licensure. Experience - Three years' experience in Nuclear Medicine One year experience in PET CT Education - Graduate of an AMA accredited school for Nuclear Medicine Technology and Radiographic Technology Training - With no prior experience, the tech must complete one year of training exclusively in PET CT and complete all required PET CT competencies.
