How you make a difference The Psychiatric Licensed Practical Nurse (Psych LPN) is responsible for providing professional nursing care for patients with mental health disorders, administering psychotropic medications, and monitoring their effectiveness and side effects. They must have a deep understanding of the diagnosis and treatment of mental disorders, as well as issues related to psychotropic medication compliance. This position requires obtaining and maintaining security clearance. Qualifications & Requirements: Education: - Licensed Practical Nurse Experience: - Experience in the provision of nursing services in a psychiatric setting Licenses/Certifications: - Must maintain CPR certification, and any other certifications (such as First Aid) required by contract Key Responsibilities: - Provide psychiatric nursing services under the direction of the Psychiatrist and Director of Nursing, which includes contributing to assessments done by registered nurses, implementing specific treatments, and monitoring compliance with medication. - Provision of medication education to inmates and training in human behavior and/or mental health issues to institutional staff as assigned by the M...
