Job description

Purpose of the Position: The Research Engineer will perform research, execute hardware design and fabrication, and develop models and functional codes using workstations, single-board computers, and microprocessors in support of Uncrewed systems research. Duties / Responsibilities: - Design, develop, and integrate UAS hardware components to include fuselage, propulsion, payload carrying capabilities, and others. - Performs advanced additive manufacturing tasks in support of center programs, including design optimization, material development, prototyping, and production of complex components. - Execute hardware design and fabrication, and develop models and functional code using workstations, single-board computers, and microprocessors in support of uncrewed systems research. - Train and support as a Range Aviation Safety Officer. - Manage inventory of materials and other required resources specific to the lab and the programs assigned to support. - Collaborate with other researchers and engineers within the center to develop and integrate aviation components. - Support hands-on testing of UAS operations and conduct demonstrations for customers.
