Bargaining Unit: UUP Job Summary: The Department of Health Information Management at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Outpatient Coder / TH Medical Records Specialist. The successful candidate will: - Report to the Coding Manager and Director of HIM Department. - Abstract clinical information from the medical record and assign appropriate ICD-10 CM and ICD-10 PCS/or CPT codes according to established procedures. - Maintain optimal standards of coding and assume uniformity of coding for compliance and reimbursement. - Ensure the selection of accurate and descriptive codes from the appropriate classification system. - Ensure the confidentiality of data contained in the patients medical record...
