For more than 60 years, the Department of Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Hospital Dentistry has provided high‑quality, low‑cost dental care to uninsured and underinsured members of the community. Services are delivered by dental residents who have completed dental school and are pursuing an additional year of hospital-based training. Care is closely supervised by dedicated volunteer community dentists and experienced faculty members. Dentistry Services | ChristianaCare: Clinical services offered include: The Dental Hygienist is a licensed oral health professional who works collaboratively with dentists to deliver preventive care and promote long‑term oral health. In this role, the Dental Hygienist provides comprehensive dental cleanings, including the removal of plaque and tartar above and below the gumline, and performs preliminary examinations to identify conditions such as gingivitis, periodontal disease, and other oral health concerns.
