Title: Transfusion Safety Officer Job Type: Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Laboratory Medicine Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Ensures the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance of all blood transfusion practices across the continuum of care—from ordering and specimen collection through administration and post transfusion monitoring. Serves as an expert resource for transfusion medicine and patient safety, collaborating with Nursing, Transfusion Medicine, Pathology, Anesthesiology, Surgery, Oncology, and Quality/Patient Safety to reduce risk, prevent errors, and optimize patient outcomes. Supports the development of a Patient Blood Management (PBM) program, oversees compliance activities, assists in creating and evaluating transfusion-related policies, and leads performance improvement initiatives that enhance safety, efficiency, and evidence-based utilization. Functions with a relatively high degree of autonomy and serves as a key liaison across clinical, medical, and administrative teams.
