707 UNION: Job Summary/Basic Function: Teachers College, Columbia University is seeking a Desk Attendant/Porter. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining the safety, cleanliness, and overall upkeep of a building. Essential functions and responsibilities of the position may vary based on operational requirements and business needs. CHARACTERISTIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Porter: - Monitor and oversee surveillance cameras to maintain building security - Notify tenants promptly to visitors’ arrival and package deliveries - Sort, log and distribute incoming mail and packages - Manage sign-in and sign out procedures for vendor, contractors and guests - Provide courteous assistance and greeting to residents and visitors - Enforce building policies and procedures to ensure safety and compliance - Maintain the cleanliness of the front desk and main entrance - Clean, dust and sanitized surfaces; vacuum, sweep and mop floors in shared and common areas - Remove from bins and compactor, recyclables, garbage and compose for sanitation pickup - Transport safely large items from Seth Low to the main campus for disposal - Assist with exterior cleaning: watering of plants and snow...
