Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) for the Writing Center in the Department of English ( Fresno State Writing Center ) College of Arts and Humanities: Position Overview: The Writing Center in the Department of English is seeking Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) applicants. Students from all graduate and undergraduate disciplines are encouraged to apply. The Instructional Student Assistant (ISA) is an entry-level professional development position where students learn to facilitate peers’ reading and writing processes as Writing Center tutors. Writing Center tutors support Fresno State students’ development as readers and writers with (1) semester-long small writing groups, and (2) appointments for 30 minute or 1-hour one-on-one tutoring sessions. To support the reading and writing needs of students, the tutors are required to attend two-day orientations at the beginning of the fall and one day orientations during the spring semesters. Additionally, tutors will be required to attend a weekly, professional development (paid) class for each semester of tutoring that supports tutors learning best writing center practices.
