Job Description Summary The Public Safety Dispatcher performs technical communications work in support of public safety operations. Work involves receiving emergency and non-emergency calls, monitoring alarms and CCTV systems, obtaining and relaying information, and dispatching appropriate personnel. Position is responsible for maintaining communication logs and databases and operating a host of complex telecommunications and computer equipment to include multi-line phone systems, Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system,, and two-way radios. These positions require the ability to multi-task and to remain calm and composed in high stress situations. Positions maintain confidentiality and discretion, works individually or with others and adapts to change and circumstances. The employee in this position is considered an essential employee and may be required to work non-traditional hours (evenings/overnight), weekends, holiday, during severe weather events, and overtime hours.
