Job Title: Licensed Practical Nurse - Acute General Medicine Department: Acute General Medicine (5800): Location: Rochester General Hospital: Hours Per Week: Part-Time (20 hours per week) Schedule: Day/Evening/Night, Every Other Weekend, Every Other Holiday SUMMARY: The Licensed Practical Nurse is responsible for providing direct patient care, usually under the direction of a Registered Nurse, in accordance with established plans. The Licensed Practical Nurse is a key member of the care delivery team. The Licensed Practical Nurse communicates the needs of the patient and the team; collaborates with the multidisciplinary team, takes direction from the RN and delegates appropriately to the other members of the team. The Acute Medical Unit (5800) specializes in the care of patients with a wide array of medical diagnoses and multi-system problems. LPNs working on 5800 will have the opportunity to master their skills in caring for patients with the following acute illnesses & conditions: cardiac requiring telemetry, diabetes, kidney disease, dialysis, pulmonary issues, and patients with multiple drips, drains & catheters.
