Livestock Specialist

Job description

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY: - Handle sires of varying ages and sizes in a calm, confident manner for optimum production - Work in a system using established protocols - Perform regular livestock care including feeding, cleaning, moving cattle, assisting with health testing and veterinary treatments, and other routine tasks - Operate company farm equipment and vehicles - Clean and maintain buildings, grounds, and equipment QUALIFICATIONS: Required: - Comfortable working with large animals - Ability to perform occasional planned weekend duties - Capability to lift/carry up to 50 pounds - Capacity to work on feet and stand for long periods of time - Willingness to learn and follow company protocols - 5+ years of previous livestock handling experience - Experience detecting health and disease symptoms in cattle - Ability to perform basic equipment and building maintenance repairs - Post-secondary education in agriculture or related field - Basic computer skills working with Microsoft Office CHARACTERISTICS OF A SUCCESSFUL LIVESTOCK SPECIALIST: - Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced, team environment - Effective communicator with attention to detail - Keen sense of attention t...
