Job Description Claim Specialists within the Law Department’s Litigation Support Division play a crucial role in assisting City agencies in complying with discovery obligations in litigation. This position requires a proactive approach to the management of record requests, utilizing both manual and computerized office systems, and collaborating closely with internal and external agency staff to ensure efficient and effective task management. The responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to, conducting searches for records maintained in the ordinary course of the specific agency’s business. The task requires management of a case load of varying size of matters pertaining to specific claims made against the City of New York and specific agencies. The Claims Specialist operates under supervision but exercises independent judgment in managing assigned tasks. The Claim Specialist is required to monitor all court due dates and ensure that the records located and produced are legally and factually accurate to the claims presented.
