Coder Inpatient

Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented, experienced Inpatient coder. Must have a varied background in IP coding, handling a wide array of specialties and trauma levels, teaching facility experience, and multi-specialties (Ortho, Cardiac, Neuro, OB/GYN, Med/Surg, etc.) I am not looking for 3-5 specific specialty areas, but someone well-rounded outside of General Medical/Surgery. Essential Job Functions: Responsible for abstracting, coding, sequencing, and interpreting clinical information from inpatient, outpatient, emergency department, pro-fee, and clinical medical records. Responsible for assigning correct principal diagnoses, secondary diagnoses, and principal procedure and secondary procedure codes with attention to accurate sequencing. Utilizes technical coding principals and DRG/APC reimbursement expertise to assign appropriate codes. Abstracts and codes pertinent medical data into multiple software programs and/or encoders.
