VCU Inpatient Adult Psychiatry consists of N4, a 16-bed Acute Psychiatric Unit for patients suffering from psychosis, mania, or behavioral disturbances; N3, a 21-bed Medical Psychiatry Unit that offers care to geriatrics as well as psychiatric patients with stable medical comorbidities such as Diabetes, Wound Care, Dialysis, or requiring assistance with ambulating with a walker or a cane; and N3ECT which provides both in-patient and out-patient ECT (Electroconvulsive Therapy) as well as outpatient TMS (trans magnetic stimulation) therapy. VCU Adult Psychiatry were the first psychiatric units in the country to be awarded the AACN Beacon Award. The Clinical Nurse II job demonstrates a mastery of clinical skills and begins to apply this knowledge to a specific patient population. This job assists the health care team with the prevention of illness and injury, maintenance of wellness, and provision of comfort.
