Job Description The Bureau of Customer Services (BCS) oversees the production and collection of water and sewer bills along with all the work required to maintain our citywide network of meters and meter reading devices. BCS serves approximately 836,000 customers and generates $4 billion of revenue annually. The Bureau of Customer Services seeks qualified candidates for the position of Water Use Inspector Level I work relating to the repair, replacement and installation of water meters and AMR related equipment. Under supervision and direction from a Chief Inspector or managerial supervision, the selected candidate will perform work in the field and/or office; read, inspect, test, make repair and replace water meters and Automated Meter Reading (AMR) equipment; Installs, repairs and replaces meter reading MTU equipment and/or remote wire. Will serve notices to repair recently installed and unapproved defective water meters. Conduct inspections to ensure conformance to codes, standards, plans or specifications relating to the metering, sale and use of City water, reports leaks and waste of water and inspects water use within a building.
