Job description

Description: - Provides professional nursing care for patients on assigned nursing units, in accordance with established statutes, standards and practices. - Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patient's age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. - Utilizes all resources in the initial assessment of patient needs, including biophysical, psychosocial, cultural, environmental, discharge planning, self-care, and education. - Performs a reassessment each shift, upon transfer or discharge, and more frequently as necessary. - Practices universal precautions, infection control, and isolation procedures. Maintains accurate and concise documentation of patient status, nursing interventions, and patient responses. - Participates in discharge planning; upon discharge ensures that a written teaching/discharge plan has been developed for assigned patients, including disease process, complications, medications, diet, physical activity, and self-care needs. - Demonstrates an understanding of the role of all health care providers to appropriately meet the needs of the patient. - Demonstrates the ability to make effective nursing jud...
