Job description

VHIR offers a Laboratory Technician position within the laboratory of Metabolism and Obesity, led by Dr. Josep A. Villena. The research of Dr Villena’s lab focuses on the study of the cellular and molecular mechanisms by which adipose tissues contribute to the control of body weight and glucose homeostasis, with particular interest on how the adipocyte-immune cell crosstalk contribute to tissue homeostasis or development of cardiometabolic pathologies. Dr Villena’s research combines multiple Omic technologies (transcriptomics, proteomics and cytomics) with the use of sophisticated tissue-specific (constitutive and inducible) knockout mouse models, primary cultures, and human samples Main responsibilities and duties: Coordinate a study aimed at identifying the molecular mechanisms involved in the metabolic effects of calorie restriction in adipose tissues. Lead the experimental work in animal models aimed at characterizing the immune compartment composition and function in adipose tissue.
