Deputy Director of Power and Light

Job description

Under limited supervision, this position provides direct operational and administrative supervision to the Division Managers and other assigned positions. Incumbent will assist the Director in overseeing the operation of the Power & Light Department in day-to-day operations. Duties include coordinating and providing managerial direction of all planning, production, transmission and distribution of power, maintenance and other administrative activities relating to the operation of the utility. Responsibilities include union contract negotiations, resolving labor-related issues and grievances, dealing with the Public Utilities Advisory Board, and ensuring quality standards and compliance with regulations are maintained. Incumbent will assist the Director as needed in conferring with upper management, providing information on key issues and objectives. This position will carry out a variety of supervisory responsibilities including hiring, assigning, and directing work, monitoring performance, discipline, training, employee career development and allocation of resources.
