Job description

The Superintendent is responsible for directing and coordinating the operations of discharge, load, and departure of assigned transportation, while guaranteeing quality, security, safety and efficiency in accordance with relevant operational and technical parameters. The Superintendent is the first line supervisor of the operations management team and is responsible for the direction and supervision of union labor. The Superintendent is often the only member of management interacting with labor while working a ship and must represent the interests of SSA while supervising the union labor. Essential Responsibilities: Qualifications Qualifications: - Supervises personnel in proper operating procedures, and counsels, disciplines and/or makes termination decisions as needed to ensure an efficient operation while working within the restrictions of the labor agreement.
