Description SUMMARY: California Institute of the Arts (CalArts) seeks a Deputy Director and Curator, Performing Arts, for the Roy and Edna Disney CalArts Theater (REDCAT) to develop and oversee the artistic program in performance, theater, and dance, reporting to the Vice President of Cultural Partnerships and Steven D. Lavine Executive Director of REDCAT. The Deputy Director, Performing Arts, is encouraged to develop an inclusive, dynamic, risktaking, artist-centered and intersectional program of performances, commissions, programs, and events that advances CalArts’ national and international standing in the field of contemporary arts. REDCAT, CalArts’ downtown center for contemporary arts, is a multidisciplinary center for innovative visual, performing and media arts in the Walt Disney concert Hall complex of the Los Angeles Music Center in downtown. Through performances, exhibitions, screenings and literary events, REDCAT introduces diverse audiences, students and artists to the most influential developments in the arts from around the world.
