Job description

JOB PURPOSE OR MISSION: The Licensed Practical Nurse’s (LPN) primary role is to provide nursing care for patients who are experiencing common, well-defined health problems. The LPN functions as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, and utilizes the nursing process in implementation of patient’s care. Those services are performed under the supervision of a registered nurse and utilize standardized procedures with predictable outcomes. The LPN adheres to standards and regulations as set forth by the facility’s policies and procedures as well as external credentialing bodies such as JCAHO, OMH and OSHA. ORGANIZATIONAL PERFORMANCE CRITERIA: Demonstrates commitment and dedication in meeting the overall corporate Values, Mission and Vision for the future. DESIRABLE MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The LPN must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing, be highly organized, have an understanding and sensitivity to serve in culturally diverse and special needs population of the chronically mentally ill, geriatric, CD, adult psychiatric population as well as has basic knowledge of normal physical and emotional development.
