Mortgage Portfolio Underwriter

Job description

This position will be responsible for analyzing portfolio real estate mortgages, construction transactions and retail loans including home equity transactions. The Portfolio Underwriter will be a member of the Real Estate Loan Committee. Must be well versed in collateral analysis, credit analysis, agency and secondary guidelines. Strong candidates will demonstrate the ability to make independent decisions and have a versatile lending background. Primary Duties: - Review all single-family portfolio mortgage loans as assigned. Review for guidelines and quality; make recommendations to Real Estate Loan Committee for transactions exceeding lending authority. - Facilitate workflow of transactions through Encompass. Prepare Loan Committee worksheets and communicate decisions appropriately. - Openly collaborate with all departments to assist with customer requests. - Collaborate and assist the designated Bell Bank Mortgage Portfolio Underwriter and VP of Underwriting in all Bell Mortgage markets pertaining to portfolio questions. - Keep up to date on all Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, RD and VA guideline requirements for 1-4 family residential loans. - Assist and mentor Retail Underwriting...
