Job description

SUMMARY: Coordinate total nursing care for patients using nursing standards and the nursing process; following Maternal Health / Newborn Nursing Standards. Participate in patient and family teaching; provide leadership working cooperatively with other health care providers in a team oriented maternal health setting. JOB DUTIES: Maintains communication and promotes cooperation inter and intra-departmentally both vertically and horizontally. Coordinates maternal / newborn health plan of care with physician and maternal / newborn health team. Provides information to staff. Communicates with and serves as a liaison between nursing/patient/patient’s family/ significant other/physician and the surrounding community. Works with Manager to establish the short- and long-term goals of the Nursing Unit quarterly. Participates in Hiring, orientation, scheduling and evaluations, counsels, and recommends the termination of assigned staff with the assistance of Manager & Human Resources.
