Job description

Cabell Huntington Hospital seeks a full-time, as needed Laboratory Support Clerk II . The purpose of this position is to enter orders and collect specimens on patients at remote collection centers. To prepare specimens to be sent to the main Laboratory. Job specific accountabilities (full-list available in job description): - Receives all walk up patients, interprets physicians' orders. Enters data into the LIS system to generate requests. - Creates orders for these specimens, properly places the labels on the blood tubes and prepares samples for delivery to main laboratory. Must be familiar with the proper packaging, specimen requirements, sample preparation. - Knows Medical Terminology so incumbent can properly pronounce laboratory tests. - Positively identifies patient prior to drawing blood or collecting any specimens - Properly collects and label patient specimens which includes blood, urine, cultures and other body fluids. - Distributes completed laboratory reports to clinic offices as necessary. - Delivers supplies to clinic offices, picks up any clinic collected samples for processing as necessary. - Receives all incoming calls for the remote drawing station, assists the ca...
