MEDICAL LAB TECH (ACSP OR HEW CERTIFIED): Job Description: Duties/Responsibilities It is understood that this is a summary of key job functions and does not include every detail of the job that may reasonably be required. - Perform laboratory tests and quality control procedures in assigned areas. Departmentalized technicians will have increased technical responsibility in areas of specialization. - Assess and report acceptable results. Troubleshoot and document problems and out-of-control results to level of capability. Notify supervisor of problems. - Perform and document routine and monthly maintenance of laboratory instrumentation. Notify supervisor of operational difficulties. - Maintain inventory sheets in assigned areas and notify coordinator of needs. - Assist in training students and new employees. - Operate computer including all routines dealing with patient data and quality control. - Perform phlebotomies as requested. - Maintain laboratory work areas in a clean and safe manner. - Attend laboratory meetings. - Attend in service education meetings and educatio...
