Summary The Department of Dermatology has an immediate opening for a Medical Assistant I. The ideal candidate will have a basic general knowledge of medical assisting work and interest in dermatology. Experience in a dermatology clinic and/or surgical environment is not required, but is desired. The Dermatology Clinic at Baylor College of Medicine is a state of the art facility that treats patients with complex skins conditions, performs Mohs surgery on skin cancer patients, and offers cosmetic and laser procedures. Job Duties: - Performs routine patient care responsibilities such as rooming patients, taking vital signs, drawing blood, specimen collection, administering tests, collecting patient history, and assisting the physician in the exam room. - Collects patient history, performs medication reconciliation, and enters patient information into the electronic medical record. - Notes the primary complaint/reason for the patient visit. - Sets up instruments and equipment for the physician/physician assistant. - Assists with procedures as needed. - Instructs patients on general care and medical procedures. - Takes inventory and keeps patient exam rooms in orderly condition and appr...
