JOB SUMMARY: The Histotechnician Lead performs technical and non-technical procedures related to the preparation of tissue and production of slides while maintaining the highest standard of quality. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Support and execute all management objectives and directives. - Serve as a role model to department employees ensuring a sense of urgency and pride. - Help to monitor and coordinate the flow of specimens and/or slides from embedding, microtomy, and distribution, while ensuring accurate and timely completion of shift functions. - Assist with staff training. - Perform troubleshooting of problem cases - Assist with stain validations - Maintain and operate tissue processor effectively and with precise documentation - Gross tissue as directed - Embed all types of tissue - Section all types of paraffin embedded tissue - Follow all set protocols and procedures for technical and non-technical tasks - Keep embedding area, microtome, and workstation clean and clutter free and maintain proper QC. - Maintain fresh solutions, stains and/or change re-agents on machines as needed and directed. - Perform special stain and/or IHC procedures. - Perform patholo...
