Job description
The project aims to develop new chemical strategies for the design of quantum materials by integrating functional molecules with layered two-dimensional materials. Combining concepts from coordination chemistry and solid-state chemistry, the research explores how molecules with tailored electronic and magnetic properties can be incorporated into van der Waals crystals to engineer magnetism, electronic structure, and symmetry at the atomic scale. This chemistry-driven approach opens new opportunities for creating quantum materials with emergent phenomena such as low-dimensional magnetism, tunable electronic phases, and potentially superconductivity, with relevance for spintronics and quantum technologies. Responsibilities and qualifications: The successful candidate will work on the synthesis and investigation of molecularly engineered quantum materials, including the design of molecular intercalants and their incorporation into layered materials. The project combines synthetic coordination and solid-state chemistry with advanced structural characterization and physical property measurements. In particular, the candidate will investigate structure–property relationships using techni...
