Status Full-Time Standard Hours per Week: 40 Job Posting Category: Laboratory Medicine: Job Posting Description: Position/Department Summary: Collects blood from patients of all ages for the purpose of diagnostic testing. Key Responsibilities: - Completes order entry of tests into the LIS. Gathers and documents necessary clinical information. Refers questions regarding information to appropriate clinician. - Selects appropriate venous puncture site based on knowledge of pathophysiology. Performs phlebotomy for collection of blood for clinical and research testing. - Monitors individuals to ensure comfort, safety and adequate blood flow. Monitors individuals for adverse reactions. - Select and prepare tubes/containers, paperwork, labels and forms. Has knowledge of testing requirements for clinical tests including special handling requirements. - Monitors and stock supplies. Notify appropriate staff when reorder levels are reached. - Provides positive customer service that supports departmental and hospital operations.
