POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Transporter promptly and safely transports patients to and from procedures, tests, and between units according to established policies, procedures, and time schedules. This position supports organizational goals by providing quality customer service, enhancing patient throughput and operational efficiency, participating in performance improvement efforts and demonstrating a commitment to teamwork and cooperation. This position: Understands and follows all policies and procedures. Determines patient identifiers, destination, mode of travel, time, and other relevant information. Directs or escorts incoming patients from the admitting office or reception area to designated locations and assists patients, whether ambulatory or non-ambulatory. Transports patients or deceased individuals, alone or with assistance, using beds, stretchers, gurneys, wheelchairs, or other equipment as needed. Helps maintain a safe working environment for all patients, visitors, and employees, promptly reporting unsafe conditions, accidents, or injuries to a supervisor.
