Title: Cytotechnologist Job Type: Regular Company: Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center Department: Pathology Time Type: Full time Weekly Hours: 40 FTE: 1 Shift: First Shift (United States of America) Summary: Performs microscopic screening of gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) slide preparations, for the detection of precancerous and cancerous conditions. Provides assistance and adequacy assessment of Fine Needle Aspirate procedures. Identifies normal and abnormal cellular constituents. Evaluates specimens’ adequacy. Marks cells most representative of any pathologic process. Develops a diagnosis supported by cellular evidence in conjunction with clinical history and data. Enters diagnosis on gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens. Records daily workload, hours worked, and hours screened which must always be in compliance with New York State and Federal regulations and with limits set within the laboratory. Obtains and records required medical continuing education. Maintains quality control records. Maintains procedure manual. Prepares fine needle aspirations on slide as requested by clinician.
