City/State Norfolk, VA Work Shift: Third (Nights) Overview: Sentara is currently hiring a Patient Care Technician to work at Sentara Leigh Hospital, located in Norfolk on the 3W Stepdown/Intermediate Care Unit. Hours/Shift: Full-time, nightshift. Approximately 6pm to 6am Department/Position Overview: 3 West is a 24 bed Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) step-down unit for patients with complex medical and surgical diagnoses. Each bed is private with telemetry in each room. Due to the clinical fragility of our patient population, we also have a respiratory therapist assigned to the unit. On 3 West we manage a wide variety of patient populations that could include but not limited to acute/chronic cerebrovascular accidents, ventilator dependent patients and those that can be weaned from the ventilator. These patients can also range from spinal cord injuries that were derived from trauma, gastrointestinal bleeds, acute/chronic renal failure, liver failure, respiratory failure, tracheostomy patients, patients that require positive pressure ventilation for urgent and emergent needs and newly diagnosed and chronic diabetes.
