Description The Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at American University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor beginning August 2022. Rank will be dependent on experience and stature in the field. Depending on qualifications, the appointee to this position may be recommended for tenure at the time of hiring. The ideal candidate for this position is a collaborative Ph.D. scientist with an established research program in viral pathogenesis, virus-host interactions, immune responses to infection, plant pathology, or related areas of virology. This individual will complement departmental strengths in microbiology, molecular biology, cell biology, neuroscience, evolution, physiology, genetics and genomics. Scientists who use biochemical approaches, employ mathematical modeling, study environmental causes of viral outbreaks, or pursue other topics that synergize with other science departments in the College of Arts & Sciences are especially encouraged to apply.
