Pharmacist - Main Med Surg Pharmacy - Full Time - Evenings

Job description

Under the general supervision of the Director of Pharmacy, and according to standard procedure, an inpatient pharmacist compounds and dispenses medications and pharmaceuticals upon receiving orders from a licensed practitioner; performs all duties necessary to provide for the effective daily operation of all departmental services and programs; supervises support personnel in all work areas as assigned. Unit Dose: Understands the Epic system which allows them to effectively review, verify, and prioritize orders using the chart to ensure medications prescribed are the appropriate dose, frequency and administration times; drug allergies, drug-drug interactions, drug-disease and incompatibilities are avoided. Supports the formulary. IV Area: Accurately dispenses properly labeled medications following the scanning process. Supports and follows the most up to date USP guidelines (797/800). Understands the Abacus software / Baxa pump. Prioritizes and monitors daily operational duties in assigned areas using support personnel in the most effective manner, including coordination of break and lunch (dinner), to ensure patient care services are maintained.
