Description The Stony Brook Department of Family, Population and Preventive Medicine along with the Stony Brook Cancer Center is looking for a translational researcher in community engagement and health. The candidate must have research experience in the area of cancer, in working and integrating across disciplines, optimally between basic and clinical, and have a focus on identifying the needs of the community and developing research aimed at meeting those needs for people with cancer or at risk for such. The successful candidate will develop, establish and lead multi-disciplinary research programs in collaboration with community representatives and with basic, clinical and population science researchers. They will identify the unique needs of the community served by the Stony Brook Cancer Center and will work with various members and stakeholders across that community. They will have the ability to serve as bridge between the community and researchers within the Department of Family, Population and Preventive Medicine and Stony Brook Cancer Center, and to use that bridge to both inform research direction as well as to apply research to meet community needs.
