Job description

Purpose/Description The Plumber in Roads Maintenance Division performs skilled work in installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems, fixtures and equipment. The Plumber will assemble, install, or repair pipes, fittings, or fixtures of heating, water, or drainage systems, according to specifications or plumbing codes in Buildings and facilities within Roads Maintenance Division. The Plumber usually works independently following accepted trade practices and may be required to do occasional steam fitting. Required Tasks: MAJOR DUTIES: - Maintain plumbing fixtures in offices and yards. - Maintain water lines. - Maintain drains. - Maintain boilers. - Keep records. Other Duties include: - Maintain or repair plumbing by replacing defective washers, replacing or mending broken pipes, or opening clogged drains. - Measure, cut, thread, or bend pipe to required angle, using hand or power tools or machines, such as pipe cutters, pipe-threading machines, or pipe-bending machines. - Maintain hoses and fill stations. - Install pipe assemblies, fittings, fixtures, valves, appliances such as dishwashers or water heaters, or fixtures such as sinks or toilets, using hand or power tools. -...
