Under the direction and supervision of a Pathologist, the Pathologists' Assistant performs gross description and dissection of human tissue surgical specimens. #LI-LP1 Core Competencies: Performs gross description and dissection of human surgical specimen.Obtains appropriate clinical histories for surgical specimens.Processes surgical specimens.Exhibits good judgment in selecting appropriate tissue sections for histologic processingPrepares frozen sections for Pathologists to render a diagnosisAssists in establishing new work methods and procedures.Assists in training and orienting new employees.Performs clerical and computer-related documentation accurately.Disposes chemical and laboratory waste according to established procedures.Performs preventative maintenance on equipment, documents PM appropriately, makes minor repairs and immediately contacts appropriate personnel for problems requiring repairs that are more complex.
