Description The Department of Biology in the College of Arts and Sciences at American University invites applications for term faculty appointment for Spring 2015 at the level of Professorial Lecturer and Assistant Lab Director. The appointment is a 9-month term position (academic year) and will commence on January 12, 2015. Qualifications: Applicants should hold a PhD in Biology or a closely related field; research and teaching experience are required. Membership in relevant professional associations is desirable as is proficiency in computer skills as it applies to laboratory pedagogy. The position will require the incumbent to teach the equivalent of three undergraduate courses per semester in Biology. The successful candidate will directly supervise and monitor lab sections for introductory Biology courses, evaluate student performance in those lab sections, and coordinate with faculty teaching the associated lecture portion. Additional duties may also be assigned by the Director of Biological Laboratories. All faculty are expected to hold office hours and participate in School and University activities and service.
