Job Details The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist performs laboratory tissue testing according to established procedures and protocols. The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist receives, processes, and prepares tissue samples for diagnosis using such procedures as embedding, microtomy, staining, cover-slipping, Immunohistochemistry and special stains. The Histotechnician/Histotechnologist may also specialize in a given laboratory discipline(s), and works effectively as a team member within the department and with other departments to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration. Job Description: Essential Functions: Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson. Performs histological procedures including embedding, cutting, and staining surgical, biopsy and anatomical tissues for light and fluorescent microscopic slide review. Recognizes deviation from expected results and analyzes and corrects problems within established periods to expedite diagnosis. Maintains reagents and equipment in proper quantities and condition.
